88 Percent Support Recording Police in Public: Reason-Rupe Poll April 2014

"Fully half of Americans think that police officers are not held accountable for police misconduct," says Reason-Rupe polling director Emily Ekins. "Technology is making it possible for Americans to be aware of these events on a broader scale. They are seeing that these things are happening nationally, rather than being isolated events."

Ekins sat down Reason TV to discuss the portion of the results from the April Reason-Rupe poll focused on attitudes towards police abuse and misconduct.

While 78 percent of respondents expressed a favorable view of the police in general, 50 percent don't believe police officers are held accountable for misconduct, and an overwhelming 88 percent support the right to record police who are arresting, restraining, or involved in an altercation with people in public.

Watch the video above to hear Ekins delve deeper into these results.

Approximately 1 minute long.
